Bald Chicken!!

Hi,

I have a chicken that is about a year and some months. I have never had a chicken molt, but this one is almost bald. Is that normal molting? I thought she might be getting picked on, but when I put her in a separate pen yesterday I noticed she is still loosing feathers like crazy. It is pretty cold here and I am worried about putting her outside.

Any ideas? If they have mites do they loose feathers?

First off Welcome to BYC

It could be a severe molt, and you would be good to be mindful of her comfort. Maybe keep her in till the feathers regrow. Add extra protein to help her regrow feathers. I've added a link with some feather loss info.
