Bald chicks

Ok, I felt so bad that I cleaned out the goat stall, put two tractor loads of sand in and put shavings down on half and put all chickens from both brooder in there and threw up some weed fabric just Incase they got any ideas!!

and everyone is super excited about their new digs!!
 
Give them something to do to distract them. Throw in a bunch of handfuls of pulled weeds, throw in live crickets, put some branches in there for them to practice roosting on, anything to alleviate boredom and give them positive outlets for their energy other than feather-picking. Mine also liked cat toys (those plastic balls with bells in them).


I never thought of cat toys for my chicks! That's an awesome idea! I recieved a few Cemani only a week to two weeks old with bald backs and since they weren't sick and didn't have mites, I was trying to figure out what could have been the cause...I mixed crumbled, dried mealworms in the feed(almost half and half) because I had done research on how to help with moults and extra protein, I found, helps their feathers come in much faster...They're all doing much better now, so I'm sure it was the food she was feeding them...I got the dried mealworms at Wal-Mart for pretty cheap as a big bag...Definitely worth it 😊
