Bald eagle story

We are ranchers in Western SD. While out feeding cattle my son found a bald Eagle on the ground, upright but not strong enough to fly away. He contacted the warden, who came and collected her.

She was very thin. She has had an IV, is eating a bit better, her breathing became ragged yesterday, but is better this morning.

Sharing cause people who like birds, tend to like all of them. Hoping I can load the video.

She's huge! Glad you were able to get her some help. I've been watching a lot of bald eagle hatching streams. They're such cool birds and committed parents.

This guy has the right idea: wrap those talons and keep them pointed DOWN!

We really thought capturing her would be a wild struggle, but he covered her with a blanket, grabbed her lower legs like you would with a chicken and there was no fight at all. She was pretty weak.

A few years back there was a bleeding eagle sitting on the goat's fence, really close to us, I ran home to get a blanket to grab it with, but it flew off. We call Idaho Fish and Game and they sent out 2 people to catch him. In the end the eagle got away, i have no idea where he is or could be, but i am glad you were able to help this one.

Absolutely beautiful. I'm glad you guys were able to get help! We have bald eagles here in East Texas certain times of year and it always amazes me how massive they are. They dive into the lake to catch fish!

Eagles are awesome. We see them here in SE MO once in a while. It just does something to your heart to see such a magnificent bird. Yes, thank you for getting this one into safe hands, and also for sharing with us!

Bald eagles are very common here now, back in the 70’s they were thought to be almost extinct but where we lived at the time, in northern Wisconsin on a small lake, we would occasionally see one. Most people we told didn’t believe that there were any.
