I have three golden sex link hens. I just noticed a bald spot on two of them right above their vent - about the size of a large lemon (pictured below). The spots are not red or inflamed in any way and no sores. The other hen looks to be just fine. I'd love to hear if any of you have thoughts on the cause. Thank you so much!

Would it be inflamed if it were lice or some sort of parasite?

Thank you!

I've never experienced that but I would think so. How old are they? Mine have gone through moults and lost feathers in odd places without inflammation. My opinion would be not to worry if it doesn't look red/inflamed.

How old are they? One of my BR's started her molt in that area....If they are over a year old maybe they're molting.

I doubt if it's molt then. Do the two that are going bald have a favorite spot that they roost or hang out that might be causing them to rub there? I'd give them a good going over to make sure there are no buggies, doesn't seem likely with no redness or inflamation, but......Keep us updated.

I just went out and looked at them with a flashlight. Would I see bugs on the bald spots if they had parasites?

Thanks for all the input!
