Bald spot question

New to the chicken community and I was wondering if this bald spot on my RIR will go away. Is it just feathers coming in?

How old? About four to five weeks old? I can't really tell from the pic.

Yes the feathers will come in.

Now if you see a grown hen like that in the coop it could be mites, feather picking, molting, and so on. But for chicks they can go through a phase like that on their backs as they are getting some new feathers in.

Yeah, she's about 4 weeks. I'll try to get another picture up shortly. It's right down the center of the back. Just wondering if I should be concerned but you described it perfectly.

Down the center of the back- I have seen that in a lot of chicks that age and the feathers do come in.

Once I had all the chicks of one breed do that (mixed in with several other breeds). There were like 5 of them with the same bare back, all the same breed. I figure it must have a genetic component.
