I just had my first peachicks hatch and three of them have bald spots. It seems to be only in the IB Pied and the White. I had one like this last year and that one still has the bald spot. What is causing this? If you want pics let me know. Thanks

if you are using a Styrofoam bator it is possible they are burning their heads on the heating element.. pea chicks are much bigger than chicken chicks when they hatch, also way taller.
A photo would be very helpfully.
And congratulations on your hatch, can't wait to see them.

Zazouse,
I use a styrofaom incubator and that never happened. I put the eggs in a hatcher and had a couple hatch with bald spots. My homemade hatcher is a styrofoam cooler with an Incukit (heater and fan in one) attached at the top and the chicks cannot reach it unless they fly up to it. Deerman said in a thread if I remember correctly that it could be from the way the chick is positioned inside the egg. I would have to do an advanced search to find the thread and will do it later

If you have a styrofoam incubator be sure to get a fan guard or purchase some plastic mesh and cut a piece that will fit over the fan cause then you will have a lot of bald spots when the fan scalps the chicks like mine did. This year again I forgot to attach the fan guards so I am trying to watch when they hatch. I already scapled one by dropping the lid ion it's head

It's doing great though and almost healed.

I don't have a styrofoam incubator, I have a Brinsea. And thanks for the information, I'm guessing it is from being in the egg. I will post a picture tomorrow. I also had many feet problems with this hatch, one had splayed legs and I taped them together and I still can't get them straightened out.

All the leg problems to seem to be fixed. I did have one die, but I have no idea why. I have about 10 more eggs due to start hatching in about 3 days.

I do have a question about what this peachick may be, I am thinking a Cameo pied. The parents are an India Blue male split to White and Cameo and the mother is a Cameo hen (possibly split to pied) As some of you know I have gotten many different kinds from these two, anywhere from a straight Cameo to an IB White Eye. Here are a few pictures:

I was thinking cameo pied. I just moved 13 eggs into the hatcher and it looks like they all developed but only 6 are moving. This is because my incubator's temperature spiked to 104 for a little over an hour. Hopefully I get the six to hatch.
