Balding duckling at one month?

Ok i think its a combination of catching up and a mouthy mallard. When i put their food down this evening the mallard didn't have a direct lane to the food, so he snapped(?) several times at his back. When he did it to another one while i was bending down i thumped him on the head and said "nuh uh!" Probably not my best moment, but i got protective...

Best part was, the runt of it all that has had all the problems and has been bullied was up on the hardware cloth with the food and water on both sides of him being more assertive than ive seen. I just hope he doesnt stay bald!
