Balding, slowly losing feathers down neck, abdomen bare, vent feathers stripped of down, broken.

Yes finally we had to deep clean the coop pulled everything out. Actually changed to sand for the run I think deep litter was not helping the issue. I dusted everything including every bird with gardstar I’ll add a picture got it from tractor supply. You have to re treat in 10 days to make sure they are all gone. Everyone is doing well, I did end up bathing my badly affected girls to get rid of mite dust it was amazing how much better they looked and seemed to feel!
Thank you for the info! I actually purchased permethrin concentrate and sprayed the whole coop. This would work for NFMites and perhaps lice?
Congratulations on winning this war. It is such a relief for us and the chooks.

Oh good I know it covers NF mites can’t speak for lice as thankfully I have never had them! The first round I did they came back then I read even though it says one time for a bad infestation you should treat again in 10 days. Did another round followed by one in 10 days and they were good!!! Side note I happen to be integrating chicks right after so I put everyone on grower feed. My leghorn that was badly affected by the mites really benefited from the higher protein in the grower feed. That and I did probiotics in the water she was back to her old self in no time! Figured I’d share if you had any losing weight ☺️

I also know the Dead bug brew, mixed 1:4 with water and sprayed under wings and on vents treats lice. Worked for some girls that came with those from another flock. Haven't had them since, knock on wood. Been 3.5 years.

Critter nudity is either often mites, can be molting for birds, or deficiency based on species.

Deficiency can be caused by mites or parasites.
