This is Bam Bam, our Bourbon Red turkey, with the flock of guineas which refuses to leave his/her side.

Bam Bam is fairly friendly. Tonight, he was drinking out of the hose while our daughter held it out for him. I was scratching him afterward, & he like arched his back, put his head down, & eventually sank all the way to the ground, staying there even after I stopped petting him.

Down.

Is this like a hen’s behavior when she squats like for a rooster? Is Bam Bam a hen? S/he’s about 8-9 weeks old.

Bam Bam is too young to sex from a photo. When Bam Bam gets its mature feathers, the breast feathers will have a light colored edge if Bam Bam is a hen but if those breast feathers have a dark colored edge, then Bam Bam is a tom.

The behavior you are describing is a sign of submission rather than a sign of which sex it is.
