Sunchokes?I'm going to try growing it as a cover crop for the chickens. I do cover crops in places where I need erosion control and it's been working well. Bamboo with its spreading roots would be perfect as a cover crop and erosion control. It would be welcome to expand its territory as much as it is inclined.
you are correct...this black bamboo now is a forest around my house. I only planted a small clump about 15 years ago....it spreads like "wildfire". check this pic out from my deck - the foreground used to be a yard with grass...!And in a year from now those who have planted bamboo will be asking how to get rid of it. Sadly most times the answer is you cant once it's established.
