Great idea right? Ban all roosters so that people can raise hens without offending neighbors.

It's a compromise but hey, we don't need roosters for eggs... great!

WRONG

All we really need is a clear ruling on noise nuisance that can be applied to all animals including dogs and chickens.

Once you outright *ban* roosters, you now force animal control to distinguish what "looks like a rooster" because it has a comb. You create a loophole where citizens can continually call about "seeing" a rooster.

Truth be told, roosters can be quieter than hens when they have a collar or survive surgery. Plus, roosters can have a great deal of personality and really calm the hens down.

Would you consider signing my petition and spreading the word?

Thank you

There are roosters that very quiet. I have hens that just too noisy after laying an egg. Then again... the dog few house down also very noisy.

Signed and signed and applauded! I completely agree with everything and I just want to signal boost this post, the petition and the website, heck yes!

You bring up some great points, I agree that roosters are just as loud as lawnmowers, and no one complains about the lawnmowers! I signed, and I might try something similar as you're doing. If I may ask, how did you make the site?

I much prefer the sound a rooster makes to the sound my hens make... squawking, shrieking, baw-gacking... it never ends. But then, I've never actually owned a rooster.

Thanks everyone :-) Really appreciate your comments and support.

To answer "backyardflock1's" question about how I made the site:

change.org - is not my site - it's a platform for creating a petition. You sign up, it's free, and type in what your petition is about.

liftroosterban.com - is mine - It's raw HTML, hand coded. I didn't use any special tool, just a text editor. When I look for ideas to make a quick site I visit: http://www.csszengarden.com - that site is like a playground... everyone takes the same HTML but then "skins" it with their own CSS. It's well formed so makes it somewhat easy to create a site in a jiffy... but you need to be able to wield HTML and CSS.

If you want to make your own site, and your not a programmer, consider using this new service: https://medium.com
It's gaining in popularity lately and seems like a good way to get your thoughts on the web. I've never used it myself, so it's not a firm recommendation.

By the way - you can follow all the meetings with City Hall (video and transcripts) by watching this link:

Thank you.
