Ban on Black Cars

A rumor that California planned to ban black cars to help fight global warming raised hackles on the blogosphere this week. Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh also weighed in, urging listeners to rush out and buy a black car before they were pulled from the market.

But the rumor wasn't true.

People will believe anything. All they have to do is have someone that's highly trustworthy and never lies ( someone like Rush ) to throw it out there and see if it will stick.

Reading the Mercury story, they did do something stupid. Requiring reflective coating on windshields. Nothing like getting blasted in the eyes by reflection off car windshields. It will increase the cost of replacing the windshield too. Not much of an issue in California. In states like Colorado you're lucky if you get through the winter without a rock chip that cracks your windshield.
