Tonight when I checked on the chickens, I found a bandicoot in the chook yard. I'm not too worried about him hurting the chickens or anything, but he is digging under the fence and leaving big holes everywhere.

There was also a possum in the chook house, who ran out as soon as I went in. I think it was eating their food. Is that all that it will do? or could it attack the chickens too, given a chance?

I did try to do a google search and I also looked on here, but I was only finding posts about American possums. As I am in Australia, that advice is useless to me.

Any tips to deter them?

I had to look up what a bandicoot is. According to Wikipedia, they are omnivores. So, with that information, I would just assume that they will eat your chickens because anything with sharp teeth that eats meat seems to love chicken dinners. The opossums we have here in the U.S. eat chickens, eggs and their feed.
