Just an hour ago, all the flock were happy and healthy going about their usual busy day. I went to collect the eggs a few minutes ago to find Polly, a bantam, laying on her side with legs in the air. On further investigation it appears that her eye has been damaged, I guess through being attacked. She is 3 years old, laying beautifully and has never experienced any disharmony in the flock before, despite being tiny.

I've not added any new chooks to the flock recently, diet and husbandry haven't altered.

I just don't know what happened. I've brought her in to allow her the chance to recover, I've bathed her eye with fresh warm water but don't know what else to do. I have septic wound cleanse available but think it might make things worse to use it as it says "keep away from eyes and mucous membranes"

Advice and suggestions please ...... Regards Raventor x
