You'll be better off taking photos without the red light as it distorts colors, etc -- it won't hurt them at all to be out from under the heat a few minutes while you get pictures. It can help to use a box with one side cut off as a "container" for photographing them as you take the photo from the open side and the other sides keep the little buggars still. Does the little grey one have feathered legs? It can also help to include things like the type of comb they look to develop, leg color, number of toes, etc.
