Hello all! I have been loving the community thus far!
I have a bantam chicken, approximately 1 1/2 weeks old. So far, the chicken has been getting a little bit of pasty butt, but I have been cleaning it off pretty well. Today, I went to check on the chick, and it was completely "pasted over". Once I washed the poo off with warm water, I realized a very swollen anus. It was not inverted, just very swollen and painful looking.
Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but he/she keeps trying to hide under the other chicks' wings. Does not seem to be very "sickly".
I am attaching photos. It is of the back end. Notice how it looks like there is not much hair there. A little bit ripped out when I was removing the poo, but it does look pretty hairless.
So, I put some olive oil on it and am hoping for the best. It is a very timid, sweet chicken (either that or it is hurting bad).
Any ideas? Also, keep in mind I will probably not be able to buy anything at the store if need be considering the sickness going around.
