Have you been cold yet? We have thick frost so I have heat on for my Bantams. I have young Pullets though too and can't afford respiratory issues.
My Calls are fine though without heat till we get really below in temps..

We have had one -3 morning, I think I'm going to put a heated poultry mat in my silkie coop today.

Yes...Before I turned on the heat they stayed huddled under the nest boxes. Then I had heat over just the water dish and everyone was sleeping there. Now I have a heat lamp over the Roost and the birds are absolutely happy..

I run heat because I'm not going to sit in my house in -30C and knowing my poor little chickens are waisting energy just trying to be warm. My friend laughs because hers won't move for days and just sit through the cold...

Of course Silkie are Bantams too...
That's a Cochin I'm thinking raising those babies...
