What a beauty! Does she enjoy a good chat, too? I've found my d'Uccles to be quite talkative....they have loud opinions about everything.

I have 2 seramas of my own, but my ranchhand who lives on my property has a few silver duckwings, and a couple seramas, and I just hatched out 2 seramas, and more on the way, like today. lol

@pipdzipdnreadytogo , I hate to break it to you, but....you're even closer to a gold mine for bantam lovers. Have you ever considered Eagle Nest Poultry, located in Osceola? Like I said, they offer the most adorably huggable Blue Red OEGBs imaginable. Pictured are my girls, Teeny, Tiny, Snickerdoodle (Splash Blue Red), and Itsy Bitsy, solely to tug at your heartstrings.

Sounds as though you have most aspects perfectly planned out! I completely understand with regards to selling....especially in the midst of current disease outbreaks. Therefore, breeding for personal reasons is certainly a safer option. And who doesn't LOVE colorful, friendly birds? The obvious answer here is OEGBs.

Sadly, a barn may be necessary down the road.....not judging you at all, I'm in the same boat. There's simply no such thing as too many bantams!

Oh, boy, I think I'd seen them mentioned in other posts, but haven't tried them out. Is this their website? http://eaglenestohio.com/ And if so, am I reading correctly that they only sell bantams as assortments, or do they offer them individually? 'Cause if I have to get an assortment of a bunch of different bantams, I'll be in even more trouble!

Precious Blue Red girls, and soooo beautiful! I guess I'll have to share my Fawn SDWs now. Achernar is the first cockerel (hubba hubba, right?

) and he's hopefully going to make some gorgeous babies next spring, either more FSDWs or F1 crosses with one of the other varieties I mentioned if I'm able to find them.

My two pullets, Altair and Vega. You can probably tell by her picture, but Altair's a bit sassier than her sister. She also likes to pull Vega's tail feathers, hence the broken feathers in poor Vega's picture.




And Rigel, who is a Khaki sport out of my Fawns, but boy is he pretty! He and his other brother (not Achernar) got into a fight a short while ago and his face has been blotchy with white like this since, so I'm assuming that's scarring.

Yes, and sadly, it's outdated. Their lineup of bantams has since changed slightly. Customers may cherry pick specific breeds, as long as they aren't ordering a ridiculous number of the same thing. Honestly, maybe it's better you don't get started on Eagle Nest birds....I haven't been able to stop after 3 years. I'm willing to admit I've tried every EN bantam breed with the exception of Cochin.

OH. MY. WORD. My heart simply can't fathom the beauty presented before me. Is Archernar even real? He's too good to be true. Rigel's colors, while subtle, are every bit as stunning!!!! He's wonderfully smooth and aesthetically pleasing. And the little ladies....wow. I can't get over that soft chocolate coloration. Infinitely prettier than a SDW, though it could just be I'm too used to them.

Yes, I can totally see why you want to breed. Pictures of future babies aren't optional.

Ooooh, man, now I'm definitely in trouble. You can't tell me all of this and then say it's better I don't order from them! I'm doomed!

(P.S. Cochin bantams are super cute, too. One of my three favorite breeds, along with the OEGBs and my large fowl Dorkings.)

Right?! So proud of that little guy! I really like the subtleness of Rigel's color, too. I generally don't like solid white varieties in chickens, but there's just enough color to him that I find him really pretty. He tends to wash out in pictures, but there's a tiny bit more distinction in person between his hackle / saddle feathers and his chest / wing bar area.

Infinitely prettier than a SDW, though it could just be I'm too used to them.

Haha, I don't know about that. But again, SDW is one of my favorite varieties regardless of breed.
