Bantam chickens.. a friendly discussion about all pure and mixed breeds.

Sweetheart's tail appears to be blooming, at long last. :love His is taking its sweet old time, in comparison with those of my previous Phoenix cockerels. Does anybody know approximately how much time it takes a Phoenix tail to reach maximum potential? :) He's currently around 7 months old.

That's too bad....he was very handsome. :hmm

Wonderful! :)
He's absolutely gorgeous, and should produce equally gorgeous progeny. :love
Do you know where I can get some cuckoo silkies?

I loved Punk, but he didn't need to be beating up on me, & my sister each time we went into the coop.

:idunnobut I want some.
They're wonderful birds, and certainly worthy of consideration. :)
He met his end due to it. Recently we had to do in one of our standard silkies due to human aggressiveness.
Totally justified. Can't have either one passing on those genes, or potentially injuring someone. :hmm Sorry it came to that, though.
Have I showed you my Red JungleFowl?
I don't believe so! :pop

Here's one of my JungleFowl ladies. She looks to be G.g.Gallus - Chinese Red JungleFowl.

She's in winter plumage, & the tamest. I spoiled her with treats to get her to trust me enough.

Here's both of them with a friend, an OEGB rooster.

They're a bit bigger then a bantam.

Some of them that I've used here are ones I've saved onto my computer to add when the BYC default ones just aren't the right expression for the situation. :p You can find a bunch on this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/smiley-library.1174444/

As for your other questions, I'll leave those for others who have a better idea of what to do in that situation. I don't keep my cockerels with my pullets once they've started to mature, so I don't have much experience with that. My only recommendation there is to have a cage or two ready to separate them if those boys start to be too much for each other or the pullets, just in case.

Also, I would say based on your profile pic that you have Splashes, yes. :) That's totally normal when breeding together two Blues; about 1/4 of the resulting offspring are Splash.
Wow! Thanks so much for teaching me about the emojis, the rooster advice and pointing out my Splashes! Splashes are just fine with me! :ya:celebrate:wee:woottoo bad the emojis arent chickens!!
