How small are bantam chicks compared to normal size chicks? Are they really tiny? We have a Silkie who is hatching her own eggs, and it looks like the chicks will be the smallest little things! If anyone has pictures, I'd be curious to see them, if you don't mind!
Thanks!

Bantam chicks and just that breed of chicken is little. they're beautiful birds tho lol i have 5 mottle bantams and they're the cutest things. but bantams are mini chickens. :] beautiful show birds, just fun sized :]

Depends onthe breed. Some bantams are much smaller than others and even then chick size will range widely. My Japanese chicks ranged from peach pit to golf ball size at 3 days old.

This is Walnut at a week old.

It's kind of hard to tell their sizes in this pic but the red chick is a sex link, standard size, the dark ones are buff brahma bantams, which are about half the sex link's size, my black-tailed white japanese bantams are about half the size of the brahma banties. They can be pretty tiny.

Here's a Silver Spangled Hamburg standing next to a little japanese banty at about 8 days old.

I have 14 banties and they all range in size. My Japanese are the smallest at 6 weeks, about the size of a tennis ball. My Cochins are the largest, my Silkies just a tad smaller. At 6 weeks they are the size of 3 week old standard size chicks. I never thought I'd get into banties because they are so much smaller, but I love the little devils

and they are little devils at times, lol. They have so much attitude and spunk! I had to do a lot of extra work on the fencing too because they can squeeze out of the smallest holes and my Japanese and Sebright are really good fliers already!
