*Sorry guys, no prizes! This is just a mock serious contest (oxymoron much?) I intend to become an ABA judge eventually, and want to start out with what I know best.

Contest rules:
You may submit up to four birds, one of each gender and age category. :Cock, hen, cockerel, and/or pullet.

Preferrably colors that are accepted into the standard, but milli fleurs, blue mottleds, and other colors that are known but not accepted are permitted.

It would be great if you could include a picture of the foot of the bird as well, but it is not required.

Here is the form to fill out per bird:

Name of bird:
Variety:
Gender:
Age:
Weight:

* If you don't know how much your bird weighs, that's fine, just guess or leave it blank.

The placings will be:
Best Cock
2nd place cock
3rd place cock

Best Hen
2nd hen
3rd Hen

Best Young Bird
2nd young bird
3rd Young bird

and Overall Best Bantam Cochin

Please use photos that were taken by you or a family member-photos that do not belong to you will not be accepted and you will be disqualified.

The end date is tentatively Nov. 20th

OK, here are the winners. With explenations of why they won, and what they could perhaps improve on in a breeding program:

Best Cock- Goes to Cottage Garden with their Splash cockbird. I really like this guy, he has good type and leg feathering, with a nice small comb and even points, and has good wing carriage. To me, his feathers look a little bit rough, and he could use some more "fluff" feathering, but overall a nice bird.

2nd place cock-Goes to GracefulBantams with a very nice black cockbird. I really like this guy, and he would have gone farther but in the photo provided his wings look droopy, and it appears that he has a slight main tail feather. I would also have liked to have seen his leg feathering and leg color.

3rd place cock- Goes to Chickenzoo with a good barred cockbird (I believe, anyways, the age wasn't posted) he's a nice bird with good barring and type, but he is fairly leggy, and could use some more width to his body.

Best Hen- goes to Bleenie and their nice partridge hen. A lovely little bird, in my opinion, but she also could use some more width to achieve the ball-like appearance of a cochin.

2nd hen- Goes to LMEggs with their birchen hen. Another nice bird, she could be slightly more typey. Her lacing extends a bit far as well, but she has good leg feathering and a nice comb.

3rd Hen- Goes toFLF's blue mottled hen. A nice hen, but she could use a bit more cushion and a more even shade of blue on her body.

Best Young Bird- Goes to Cottage Garden Farm's buff cockerel. He looks like he has good type and coloration, a nice even shade of buff, no white or black fom what I could tell. I wish I could have seen his feet, but he appears to be a good quality bird.

2nd young bird- Goes to Fattie's splash cockerel. He looks like a pretty good bird from the pictures, I would like to see a bit more development on his leg feathering and a picture of his cushion.

3rd Young bird- Goes to FLF's blue mottled pullet. Nice mottling, but she looks a little bit too short in her back, and could use some more cushion.

So, that ends the cochin online show.

Please don't be offended if you didn't place, I am not an ABA/APA licensed judge and therefore my own perception of your birds could be completely wrong. Some of you may have had extremely showy birds, but due to quality of the picture, distorts the image of the bird.

Just wanted to say that it was hard to pick some of these, even though there weren't many entries there were some stellar quality birds here. Good luck at the real shows!
