New Chicken Mama here! I have the opportunity to get a Bantam Cochin....I really want to get a hen and not a rooster. These are the two I am considering....can anyone help me determining gender? They are 3 weeks old. Also does this look like blue and a buff colored ones?

I really appreciate anyone taking the time to help me.

They both look like little roos to me.. combs are quite developed for their age for pullets. Just a guess tho😊

Black and white.
Too young to tell.

You guys are good! Thank you!
Cackle hatchery has sexed cochin bantams in red and barred (other colors are straight run, not sure why) I just ordered a few of the red. Just an FYI.😊
Also agree the ones you show are to young to tell gender with certainty,

I saw that....thank you! I really have my heart set on a blue one. I actually have my first flock pretty well underway....they are 2 weeks and 4 days old. I really just wanted to snag one more and add it soon to try to brood them together but I am having not luck and running out of time :(. I have 7 regular sized pullets and 1 silkie....will my silkie be okay with no other chickens their size? I was worried about them sleeping at nice and having nobody to cuddle with if they can't get up on the high roosts with the others....I have a lower roost for the silkie. Anyone have an thoughts or experience with that?

I have that problem with one silkie. The silkie used to cuddle on the ground with cochins it was bonded to, but the cochins learned how to roost and the silkie never did. I have very low roosts in my coop, but the silkie is 8 months old now and still sleeps on the ground by herself. I would very strongly recommend getting another silkie to be a buddy for your first silkie so you don't run into any problems like mine.

Both are cockerels. The white cochin has a huge comb and a rooster stance, while the blue has those little red wattles popping up.
Would you mind taking a look at my post to help determine my frizzle gender? I can also post pics here. You seem so knowledgeable & I’m a newbie! Thank you so much for your support!
