Bantam Cochin Question (PIC ADDED 8-27)

Cyn...here is my 11 week old blue bantam pullet that was attacked about 10 days ago by something that ripped the skin off one side of her neck. Obviously, the side away from the camera!! She's doing well and healing nicely but her feathers are full of polysporin so she doesn't look very fluffy. Normally you can't even tell she has a neck. At any rate, I took these photos by a ruler so you can see her size. She's just a little bit smaller...maybe by and inch or two than my 1 1/2 year old mottled hen. Please excuse her oily feathers...she'd just die if she knew I posted this pic.

I know those oily feathers! My BR cockerel, Mace, did something and ripped the skin off the back of his neck. It looked awful, but it's all fine now. Ouch! Your girl looks about the size of Shadow, but I havent actually measured her. She sure is not as fluffy as your youngun, though.

Henry, I need more chickens like I need higher gas prices! NOT! I dont want to add too many super broody types. Already, my two Delaware pullets come from very broody stock, so between those two, Shadow, Olivia and Sunny, I'll have plenty of broody hens.

Maybe keep her in with the adolescents? She should at least stay around for brooding sake. I love my b. cochin Mya she is a hoot. It's funny though cause she looks big compared to my sermies.

Corey, I really wish I did have some that would be anywhere close to her size, but she is probably the youngest bird here other than Panda. I wont be getting anymore younger than she is until maybe next spring when I have a broody. And the broody just might be Shadow! Panda and the GLW girl act like Shadow's mothers. She hides under and between them, they put their heads over her back sometimes when they nap-it's very cute! So far, she isn't hassled by anyone too much, but I just am wondering how things will be when she's mature and Dutch or Mace start to notice her. If she stays this small, they may think she's still a chick, LOL.

LOL well then I hope she can hold her own I do have a ton of broodies also next spring I am sure I will be going crazy: ameruacana's that are legendary broodies, marans, and delewares and I don't even have a rooster so I might get some eggs from people I have been wanting more marans and something blue

I know and I can't wait and also something else blue is those marans peachick has are blue and she also has blue ameraucana so I think the first broody I get I will do some local eggs then after that I will ship from you and also add langshans!

Henry
