Thought I'd bump this thread up again with some babies! I have a hatch going on right now of silkied Cochin bantams. Two out so far, and they both appear to be Blue!!

Splash. Can anyone tell me the color of my cochin bantam? He is a little over 6 weeks. I just love him and now looking to buy more cochins. Also, is there any particular colors that I should look for in a female that would make pretty colored babies with him? I really like the blue ones I've seen.View attachment 2695279View attachment 2695285View attachment 2695290View attachment 2695291View attachment 2695292
Oh, how exciting!! I hope you get your pullet out of them, too!
Any pictures of the little ones?
That is very helpful. Thank you. I will be going Thursday to pick out a few cochins. Crossing my fingers for blues.Yup, he's a Splash! The best colors to get to cross to him if you want to keep colors pure are Blue, Black, or another Splash.
With a Splash hen, he'll only produce Splash offspring.
With a Blue hen, he'll produce Blue and Splash offspring in even amounts.
With a Black hen, he'll produce only Blue offspring.
If you like Blues, I'd say your best bet is to just get yourself some Blue hens for him!
