Wait - so you're saying that at this age (2 to 3 months old) the boys already have a different kind of feather pattern than the girls?

I would think so

i only raise solid colors aside from my silver penciled cochin and she feathered in with her pattern, while the males (which look completely different) Feathered in with theres (grandfather has them), and you could tell the gender bye there feathers.

They are both very pretty. I would guess that they are both girls based on comparing them with my bantam cochin roo ~ this is my boy at 6 weeks old and he has a lot more comb and waddles. No question he was a boy as he started crowing at 4 weeks old! He was late to feather esp his back & tail.

Bug at 6 weeks...

Bug at 12 weeks. The girls with him are standard size & are all the same age.

This makes me one happy and hopeful mama! Woo!

I tried googling for pics of bantam partridge cochin chicks around this age to compare mine to (size and color/feathering to indicate sex...) but have had no luck.

Your opinions are invaluable!

assuming they are at least 8 weeks i would say both pullets as well, ive rasied at least 100 bantam cochins so far this year and by 4 weeks the boys already have larger combs than either of your chicks.

I agree they are both pullets as well. All my bantam cohin roos have had a big bright red comb pretty early on. Cochins tend to feather slow, so sometimes trying to guesstimate chicks' ages can be tricky.

I would guess the age at around 10 to 11 weeks at least based on the feathering alone. You really can't go by size because it really will vary based on their feed, living conditions, heat source etc.... They both look like pullets to me!
