Thanks for the complement Purple chicken, just speaking from experience. You can eat a silkie just like any other chicken. The only difference is that their connective tissue is colored unlike most other types of chickens. In asian markets, that dark skined five toed silkie goes for about a dollar an ounce... Last I saw was 8.99 for a tiny 8 ounce bird....
Oh man, my silkie roo is LOUD. He jumps up as close to ear level as possible and lets them go. He perfected it at about a year old and is much more shrill than my 9 lb rooster caleb. Amazing the sound that comes out of that guy.
