Bantam Duck Page

It does look like your one bird is Pied (heterozygous for Pied anyway, R/r). Pied though is typically incompletely dominant, not recessive. Are your sure one of your other ducks doesn't carry Pied or was the hen bred by a different drake at some point recently? The Pied had to come from somewhere. The other possibility is of course a random mutation, but that would be far less likely. Certainly possible though.

That's awesome! That is how people in the poultry world used to treat each other all the time, with kindness and generosity like that. When I was growing up, I can't tell you how many times people like Claude McAllister helped me out by sending me free eggs or helping me to obtain good birds. Look at the reputation that he built for himself doing things like that!

Based on my own interactions with you guys (Foley's aka the "Turbos"), I would highly recommend you. The birds I have gotten from you have all been lovely and well worth the price (and more). The last birds I got from you are doing great! My husband and brother have been caring for them for me since they arrived several weeks ago and my husband has told me several times how much he likes them (especially the Calls) and wants to get more in the future. I think he is hooked on Calls!

you are going to end up like us one day and have over a hundred in the barn for winter...LOL. Glad your ducks are doing good.
The call duck club gives out the "Claude McAllister" award to a youth call duck breeder every year to honor him....He was a great guy and missed in the call duck group.

We had some great luck at the call duck Nationals this year. We got Best Variety in White Call Ducks, BV & RV in Butterscotch, BV & RV in Silver Appleyard Call ducks and BV in black and white Magpie call ducks. We also got Reserve Bantam Duck.

We were and still are shocked and very excited. I guess all the work keeping the ducks clean in 12* weather really paid off. I hope we don't have any shows in Dec. next year.

Thanks for all the great comments about my calls and my pens and thanks for just all the great comments, and Bob Blos, yes, I am a LPN and returned to college when our last son finished college, for my BSN.

Do you still breed Silver Appleyard call ducks?

The last is a Grey Pied. Your snowys are not bad, J&J call line right? there shape gives my that idea

So the Pied gene would be recessive? I'm not sure where the Snowys came from, as I bought them at an auction. They are definitely the best Call ducks that I have.

I agree with CityChicker

That one of the birds, had to have a pied gene in it.
