Bantam Hatching Advice Needed??

siz you should defenitely still do you jap eggs. I wouldn't let that stop me. I'm just hinking maybe some of her eggs that didn't hatch could have been casued by that. I've hached plenty of jap eggs so if I were you I wouldn't worry and go for it. Just make sure your temp and humidity is correct and you should do fine with 'em!

The eggs I have hatched recently have been standard eggs, not Serama, so I don't think it's anything to do with a lethal gene. That's good to know, though, since the hatch I have going now is Serama.

Oops sorry about that Lori. Didn't notice that the others were standars. I have no idea about that one then. But hey at least you know a little factoid about those seramas now

Yes, that's sure good to know. I'm going to work on a couple of breeding trios that are as close to the Malaysian standard as I can get them. I'll be sure to try to breed out the lethal gene if I can.

It's not something you can really breed out. It's just kinda there...you wouldn't know if one of the chickens were a carrier or not.

Oh. I'll have to do some research on this so I can be prepared. Also, maybe join a Serama club????

I'm going to candle tonight or tomorrow night, so maybe I can get an idea which eggs are developing and which are not. This is the first time I've ever hatched white eggs!!!!! It will sure be a treat to be able to see through the shell!!!
