Oh no! S/he has a smaller head like the other pullets and is fairly feathered. I worried in the past she was a cockerel but she's acting more like a pullet. What makes you think cockerel? Comb? It is the largest of the 'pullets' :/At this point I believe Marley is a cockerel.

Nope :/ Just posted in an FB group to try to rehome them but posted as a trade for pullets. Nothing like reaching for the impossible! Haha
You never know! I've seen listing for pullets that wanted to trade for a cockerel.
Though I'm so tempted to keep Griffin. He's so sweet and bumbly ❤ But I'm already fighting hubby to keep cockerel in my avatar...such a unique bird...for our LF flock. Can't really have one so keeping more than one? Cringe. I've done it before but it's stressful always worrying a neighbor will move in and make a stink
@Overo Mare Question for you, Wise One! So despite all his roo-i-ness, i still wonder sometimes if Haze is still a really slow-feathering, gender-confused, Hazel. I've never seen an SP cochin in person but I would think males would feather out with more white/black and females with more of an overall pattern with less contrast. I suppose with hatchery birds, a great deal of variation is possible but could Haze's plumage be indicative of a pullet at all? And if not, when comparing to the standard, if I were to keep a boy, which should I keep? Haze pictured first; then Griffin.

Yes and no to the keeping roos. We're a beach town that was once a farming community. Before the riots last century, we were the Hollywood of the East Coast...all beautiful victorians.... one after another. From what others whose parents grew up here say, every yard had chickens. Even in town. So there were never rules against roos....just being a beach town with money starting to trickle in, less and less people had chickens. And now most residents have the current mentality that if it bothers them, you can't have it :/ One of the houses adjacent to us always had roosters and we did for years. But now as more people are starting to get chickens, from what I hear, roos are no longer allowed though i still believe it's only sound ordinances that pertain to them. One individual states otherwise..'unless one is grandfathered in'. Not sure when the regulation was passed so not sure if we're grandfathered but to inquire would put a target on us if it is an issue. So laying low. We were rooless for a while (my husband wants to stay that way) but I could probably get away with 1. But my heart belongs to my avatar boy...he is the sweetest, softest bird I've ever met. I'm currently integrating him into flock a month earlier than planned due to a coon issue and older girls are so mean to him and his 4 girls. I give them time each day when meanies are locked up and they get run to themselves. But when they're with the flock and they see me, they come running and are all over me because they know I'm safe and I won't let anyone touch them. Melts my heart. Even when i put them in the coop at night, he tries to jump out and roost on me. So if I'm going to fight for a roo... it's him. Would love to keep one of the bantam roos and might have to until I find homes, but if they get too obnoxious, they have to go
