sounds like your silkie pullet has something else in there. I have sizzles (frizzled silkies) they can be smooth and both parents can look silkie (but someone is actually frizzled). when I hatch them, 25% are silkie feathered, 25% are frizzle feathered, 25% smooth and 25% that hatch frizzle but turn silkie feathered. do you have another other silkie hens in this pen?

Being smooth I'm sure there is something in there but it would be a way back as the parent stock is silkie and she is the only one to have hatched smooth, gotta love those occasional pop ups!

At any rate she has turned into a gorgeous girl who lays daily. She is out of a lav - gray pen so curious to see if she produces lav as my main cockerel is lav as well. Have some of her eggs growing in the bator now.

I got my eggs from Beth today. Unfortunately, out of the 14 she sent~5 were crunched! I appreciate the extra's that you sent. I hate the loss of potential chicken life, though!

Not for long....... I heard a rumor that the distribution facility in Fayetteville will be closing and all our packages with go through Charlotte.
