One of my bantams (less than a week old) had pasty butt so I cleaned it off last night. The top of Its vent was swollen and the whole vent looked like it was opening and closing continuously after I cleaned its butt. The chick was standing with its wings down, and away from its body but not extended. The other chicks were pecking at its butt after I cleaned it. Is all of this normal? I’ve attached pictures.

It’s normal. It will clear up in a few days. Take a q-tip with a dab of veggie oil and rub it around the vent to help keep poo from sticking. I’ve found this works pretty well at preventing further build up.
Thank you!!
