Probably about ) weeks.
- Once the coop and the run are connected, I will confine Pearl inside so that she is coop trained. How long should I leave her in the coop before letting her out? Is one week too much?
Yes or.. even better. Let her become broody and search for someone who sell hatchery eggs nearby. Give her 4- 6 eggs and see what happens. Only be prepared you can get s few cockerels too.
- Should I get another bantam hen to keep Pearl company?
Under 600 grams she is probably most Dutch.
- Based on the pictures, what breed is she? Orpington??
I had a prefab coop/run combi of 3m2 and a run of 9 m2 for 6 small bantams. This is okay. But besides that I let them free range an hour or two each day if possible.
- Is her coop and run large enough?
Things in the coop to be busy. To jump on crawl under, a sand bath on a dry spot. Sun and also shade if it gets warm.
- Based on what I have shared, does Pearl need anything else?
Spend time with her. Don’t try to catch her, dont use a broom, stay calm and lure her.
- How can I gain more of her trust so that I can get closer and even pet her?
Have a brilliant future with her and the company she hopefully will get.Pearl and I appreciate your wisdom!
Thank your for the warm welcome. It is good to know that my plan to confine her for a week is doable. Her run can be moved around so she can continue her foraging behavior. She could use a few friends, a week is fine to confine her.
The coop and run are a good size.
She's a mixed breed, most likely
Isn't Pearl cute!! So cool to be a part of this community. Never heard of a lap chicken before. I was hoping to be able to hold her in case she needs to go to the vet or to take meds.Welcome to BYC. If you want her to come back to the coop to sleep inside , I’m sure a week is not enough.Thank your for the warm welcome. It is good to know that my plan to confine her for a week is doable. Her run can be moved around so she can continue her foraging behavior.

Your chickens are elegantly beautiful! What is the name of your Dutch bantam?View attachment 3775687
Your chicken Pearl looks a bit like a Dutch bantam. She has bleu of slate legs, large wings, can fly rather well. All characteristics of Dutch bantams. But she is not pure with her colouring. How much does she weigh?
I have a Pearl too by the way. The Black Dutch on yhe right. View attachment 3775691

Pearl is such a tree hugger. It drives me crazy that she does not have a safe place to sleep. There are possums in our neighborhood. Scary!Welcome to BYC. Pearl is very pretty. Have patience and follow the advice from @TwoCrows Pearl will be a lap chicken before yo
PS
My Kraai has almost the same colouring as your Pearl.
If you want her to come back to the coop to sleep inside , I’m sure a week is not enough.
But there is a another way to deal with tree huggers. Lure Pearl inside the run an hour before sunset with some treats. If she is as smart as she looks like. She definitely will learn its snack time when the sun gets low.
What! Soo super cool
