I have a few of these birds, they sure do not lay like the standard ones, nor are the eggs the same color, any one notice this too. Both are fed the same food, any one have any ideas on food to feed so the eggs are darker, I've not seen any difference, I'm new to your forum, so HELLO everyone, I love my chickens and have been breeding and hatching for over 40 years, ya "m old in age,,, but young in heart.

The color of the egg shell is spray painted on by the hen's body so the feed won't help make it darker. The yolk color will change with diet, though.

The darkest eggs come at the beginning of the lay cycle for the year.
