I am curious, can you have bantam breeds mixed in with large breed birds. I have a Splash Orp roo and 2 each Buff Orps, Barred Rocks, and RIRs. Or do the bantams need to be in a sepperate flock?

Yes you can mix Large Fowl and Bantam Breeds.

I know normal integration into established flock is 15 weeks old. Should I wait until the bantams are older before integration. I know they have to establish a new pecking order everytime a new bird comes in. Since they are smaller will the end up on lower end of order or does it just depend on breed and raising? As you can tell I am new to this. The birds I listed are my first ever flock. I am planning on expanding every spring by 4-6 birds so just trying to get a feel on what works.

We have 3 banatams in our flock. 2 of them I believe are pretty high in the pecking order.

My flock has always been mixed and I've never had problems. It seems my bantams are more low on the order though. But that might be just my flock. They have big personalities though! Mine are definatley the most noisy!

We've got a mixed flock, too; most of the banties are on top, but one got knocked down pretty low when she was out for a while with her brood and an injury.

It's pretty funny watching a full size hen take marching orders from something 1/4 their size. :)
