Bantams in winter

Hey there!
This will be my first winter with a bantam flock. Do I need to take any special precautions to protect them from the cold that is different than i do for my full size ladies? They are in separate coops.

In my experience bantams, other than heavily feather footed breeds, handle NJ winters as well as large fowl.

Bantams do well in cold winters, just as well as standards. Big combs are prone to frostbite, bantam or standard.

I've had Belgian d'Uccles, bantam EEs, and bantam Brahmas, and they do fine here in winter, with no extra care.

I have a barred Cochin Bantam and a Cochin Bantam Frizzle who have made it through Iowa winters without incident. Sally and Gabby live in their own little coop, and I just keep it clean and dry. It's well-ventilated, nothing different than the other girls here.

I have a great assortment of cochins, EE, frizzles, milie fluers, silkies, d'anvers. I got 2 grab bag assortments in the spring and really hit the jack pot. I was nervous the I was going to get 20 roosters but I ended up with 6 and a great variety.

The only one that might have a tougher time is the silkies. Mine got chilled easily if they got snow on them that melted

I agree about the Silkies, definitely watch them.

Do you think I need to insulate the coop at all.or provide some heat? They have a decent size run and its covered but I'm sure snow will still be able to blow in on them.

I don't and we have negative winters
