First up, I need to say that I am addicted to chickens. We have 9 1 week old chicks from Tractor Supply. I'm thinking of going back and getting some bantams. If I do, can I put them in with the chickens since they are from the same store and nearby brooders? Also, will the chickens pick on them?

Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!

They should be fine!

We have bantams and regular sized chicks together and they seems fine. They did come together from the hatchery, though, so they've always been together. If you're going to do it, I wouldn't wait!

We got bantam silkies at the same time as our standard chicks, and they did end up needing to be separated from the standards for a few days in a raised box that was closer to the heat lamp (they need temps 99-101 degrees for the first few days per the hatchery) and where they weren't picked on. Since about day #5, they've been combined with the others and holding their own.

I've placed new chicks in with older chicks up to 3 weeks difference in ages and they do fine. Today I brought home two tiny banties and my 9 day old standard size chicks accepted them just fine. As far as heating concerns, the banties find nice warm niches under the standards and do just fine with whatever you have set up for the older chicks.
