I really find this to be strange, I have 7 cochin bantam chicks that have decided today to spar. Is this a way to sex them or are they playing at this point. I don't recall my standard Ameraucana's to do this until they were 3 months old...Love to hear your thoughts on this!

I have btw japanese, wheaten OEGB and silver sebrights and they all sparred very young. By the time I could start to tell sex, I could tell some of thoses sparring were hens.

I have (13) week old bantams in one brooder and they started sparing at 1 week as well. It's fun watching them jump around like jumping beans.

Thank you both for your answer, I appreciate it! It is fun to watch and can't wait to see the next actions. I plan on making a square cage so I can take them out in the green grass, sunshine without loosing them all! My big girls I never took out, but these I will try, they are still very small!
Thanks again! Kel
