Bantams

Awesome! Which are your favorites? We have a young son so I want to make sure we have friendly birds. He is best friends with our ducks.
My green queen bantam is "spicy" but really sweet.. the 2nd green queen bantam is more low key ,but also very friendly and curious .I have 3 d'uccles (2 local,1 tsc) that are all pretty sweet, easy going and independent.

It should have said Meyers

I also have a lovely spangled old english game bird bantam that has been super great, veryfriendly, sometimes acts more like a parrot than a chicken. She came from tsc ( don't recommend out of 12 bantams, 4 made it to adulthood all received appropriate care, most died within 12 hours of getting home)

Oh awesome! I was looking into d’Uccles! I think they’re gorgeous! The spangled birds are also BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for the tips!

I have fourteen left of my original seventeen bantam pullets that I got in March 2017 from Cackle Hatchery. They include 5 Barred Rocks, 4 OEG Creles, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Partridge Cochins and 1 Dominique. They have been very healthy and productive chickens.

Amazing! What does your setup for that many bantams look like? We are raising them in our backyard and I want to make sure we will have the right amount of space for them.
Do you have any favorites either? I imagine the Cochins are gorgeous! Did you just get an assortment or specifically select them? I imagine your flock is gorgeous!!!

Those 14 bantam hens are in a pen with 15 other mixed bantam hens and young pullets. I have 3 Black Breasted Red OEGB roosters, 1 Dark Brahma bantam rooster, and 2 young mixed cockerels in there with them. They do make a nice looking flock. And I have 15 other mixed bantam hens and 10 mixed bantam roosters in various coops. I have several birds from the Cackle Hatchery Crele hens crossed with BBR OEGB roosters from Hoover Hatchery and there are 4 stunning roosters that resulted from those pairings. The remaining 25 bantams include several hens and pullets that trace back to a Blue Breasted Red OEGB rooster I call Lil Buck where the blue lacing has translated down to them. They are quite lovely as well.

Oh my goodness! They all sound so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
I hadn’t really looked into the OEGB breed until this post so I’m excited to look into them more. They are beautiful birds!

I would love to see y’all’s coops for your bantams if anyone wants to share too. I’m kind of torn on the right setup for chickens. Thanks for all of your help!

I'm going to be building my coop/run in the next couple weeks, at least that's my plan, hahaha. Feel free to follow along (I take lots of pictures).
