Bantum sick? Vet doesn't know? STUMPED

Not sure what to do with her. 4 days ago adult bantum lythargic, tail down, comb down, not eating. 3 days ago brought to vet, not egg bound, no internal/external parasites, no temp, no injuries, crop not impacted. She goes to her food but doesn't eat. They gave her injection of cortisone/antibiotic I put her in her coop within a 1/2 hr shes on her back. I put her in a crate and bring in the house. She will eat scrambled egg (only if I feed her), she will drink water (only if I eyedrop it). Will not touch soft/hard grain or anything else for that matter. Nothing has changed she just sits in the crate, fluffed. Comb still down. When I got her 2 months ago she was happy and heathy. Her boyfriend is doing fine same coop/pen/food/water. Not sure what to do with her. She poops and its normal. Should I just put her in her coop and see what happens. She doesn't perch anymore either but sits on the floor.

When any of my birds act like that I start giving them Corid. Just because their poo is normal looking doesn't mean they don't have coccidiosis. That's the treatment I try first. Then go from there.

Me too. It really pays to rule that out. I'm a little surprised the vet didn't check for that actually, did they run any lab tests at all? Blood and fecal? When I have a sick bird my vet will do an x-ray, blood and fecal test. You'll generally get your answer from one of those three things.

I would certainly treat her for coccidiosis though, she's new to your place and perhaps has encountered a strain that is new to her that she does not have resistence to.

Thanks so much. The girl is still hanging in there. She is in the crate on my kitchen counter. She still eats scrambled eggs drinks when I make her but her poop was very watery yesterday. Obviously, because she hasn't eatten. My DH has gone to purchase Corid and I'll try that to day. Had her out in my arms yesterday. i have no place for her to get out to walk around right now. I know sitting in that crate is not the best for her either. I'll let you know.

You can give her Corid directly to get her started. Just use a syringe with no needle or a dropper and drop some into her mouth. I did that for my worse cases and they bounced back pretty quick.
