Hey all! I have a Banty Cochin hen who we recently brought home from the county fair. She's the sweetest thing, and lays 44-46g tinted eggs pretty consistently, BUT there are 2 things I've noticed about her. She seems to suffer from noise induced head shaking (we confirmed this w tv mute button test), and she seems to be getting slightly narcoleptic. She takes naps while standing up pretty much any time of day. When she is being held she falls asleep and she does not like sleeping in the coop with the other girls, but prefers my tomato patch. This mornin she laid what looks like a colon shaped membrane with nothing else attached but with Lots of what I can only assume is albumin all over her bum and keel. We bathed her real quick to clean her up, and other than the sleepiness, she is her normal self.
When we brought her home, we dusted and sprayed for mites, and I just eprinexed her, so I don't believe it's a mite/ice problem.
Is this just a quirky chicken or is there possibly something more to her behavior?
Supplement:
She is eating and drinking, poos are normal, no discharge from eyes, nose or ears. She was at the fair for 5 days, been home one week today, and has been very active until yesterday. Our 2 other fair hens are behaving normally, the leghorn has been laying pretty well, the polish not at all.
