Banty sick**Help!!!!!!!!!!* *bangs head on steel*

I also think the feather issue is due to being wet. Sometimes - especially when the chick is so light in color - it will look like they are missing feathers. The crusty sounds like the litter just got stuck to them. Just make sure you get them nice and dry under the heat lamp. You could also give them a warm bath to clean them off. But you will need to make sure you get them dry and keep them warm!

I agree about bigger holes in the box. You may not need to close the top of the box, just leave it open. Make sure you have a heat source and some food and water in there too. If the chick gets upset - from being lonely - put in a small stuffed animal or feather duster. That will keep the chick company until the eye clears up and it can rejoin the others!

I think she'll be alright. I put her in a box that's bigger now, and she has a heat lamp over her, two towels around her, food, water, a stuffed leopard, and my dogs can't get to her.

yeah, there is no need to close the box, my chicks are in an open container, but becareful when you add a heat lamp that it is at least 18 inches or it can catch on fire...

I ended up switching her to a bigger box that was open. But I lost her, so it doesn't matter.

Sorry about your chick

At least it's over for her. The poor baby looked so pitiful.
