Barbado Sheep. Pic heavy.

Beautiful sheep! Oh, for many more acres, $'s, & time to take care of all the critters I'd like to have. sigh. Thanks for sharing.

I've got two. My first one, Mary, just turned one year old and was raised in our house with Border Collies, so now she thinks she's part of the dog pack, not the goat pack, because, of course, she's not a goat. I think my Mary is a snob and really looks down at the goats. Then, last weekend, I got a newborn half Barbados and half Dorper, little boy lamb...Lewis. Lewis is also being raised in the house, but I'm trying to make sure he doesn't turn into a Border Collie like Mary, but I also want him to associate with her, so maybe he'll need to become a Border Collie before she'll accept him; right now, she just looks down her nose at him and raises her eyebrows.
Here is Mary:

Nice pics. I just found this posting. I'm in NCentral Texas quite a few people around here have barbs and barb X's. We just (3/19) weaned 17 barb X Dorper lambs They are nice and soooo eye appealing. I haven't eaten barb but I have heard they are by far the best sheep meat...I don't like the other type
Are you raising yours people friendly?

I'm raising mine to be pets, so I hope they'll be people friendly. My little guy, Lewis, in the picture, is a little over a month old and living in our house, but outside with the big goats and my other sheep during the day. Lewis is also Dorper and Barbados.
You're in Texas...I have a friend there who just told me about a man who had his Barbados ram butt him in the chest and send a rib through his heart and eventually kill him. She said his ram was a pet too. I have Mary, my one year old Barbados and I don't even think she could raise her body to rear up and butt me that high or even at all, due just to her body style. None of my goats and Mary have every butted me and I'm constantly kissing them on the face.

You guys with sheep are making me jealous because I have always wanted some but I have to respect my parent's wishes and have no sheep.

But once I move out that will change.

We dont have Barbados sheep here in Australia, but we do have Damaras (I'm hoping to buy some from this mob). I think most people think these a goats, too. I know I had to look twice when I first saw them. Odd lookin things, but I like them. I'm hoping to get that solid white ewe, and also some coloured ones. They are preggo so if I get them I will have lambs in the next couple weeks!
