Barbu D'Anvers color question. Silver Quail?

Thanks for your replies Amer! I wonder where they got the eb from. I think it's from the rooster..

I will update again if there are any developments, or when the chicks get their adult feathering.

I definitely see the mahogany effect with one of my brassback girls.

I don't know if they have e^b or e+
Supposedly European quail is supposed to have e^b and American is supposed to be e+ but the German quail d'Anvers chicks look identical to the American ones so I guess chick down isn't a great indicator and if you have Brassy Back birds it would stand to reason that e+ based quail exist in your area.

They are looking more melanized than I would think for a columbian so I guess they are probably red quail and silver quail.
Maybe being e^b based unlike our e+ based quail here in the states would account for the different down color.

Ah, ok. I didn't know the chicks looked identical. I just thought, from what you mentioned earlier, that my chicks had 'eb down'.

The brassy back girls are actually from a different line and different breeder. If I remember correctly, they are bred from crele and solid black birds. Not sure where the parent stock came from.

I am just starting to learn about quail pattern. What does the quail chick down look like on duckwing?
Quail (and some blues and blue quail, the blues don't have the yellow faces)
