I always love the looks and colors of the roosters for this breed. I wanted to get some in 2020 from GFF.

But it was very pricey and I'm not setup for bantam size chickens. Now I definitely can't since I hatched out 18 Swedish flower hen chick's.

Great looking birds though.

Thank you. Very friendly little guys so far. Roosters especially😊

My rooster, Red, turned to evil. He was already on my list for bad behaviors and genetically undesirable traits. He is lucky to have lived another day. Someone adopted him from me the night before he was to become bone broth.

Black beard. Too dark orange. Comb grotesquely large. Loud crow. Crowed too much. Mating my hens with zero manners. Running from me. And then, three days ago, he f*^@k'd my foot, decided afterwards I was the enemy, and began chasing me from across the yard to grab my pants hem and pull, and bite viciously at the soft tender skin on top of my feet between my toes. Couldn't even harvest my strawberries that day, he was such a tool. I blasted him with the hose and put him in a dog crate so I could harvest in peace. Goodbye Red you will not be missed. To think you were my favorite and friendliest chick.

Here is hoping Agate doesn't see the empty @$$hole uniform and decide to take up the mantel. As of now he is still sweet if not aloof but he lets me pick him up and cuddle him without complaints and his crow is quiet and infrequent.

On the subject of combs, I discussed his comb with Kristen, and he will be used as an example for the club as an oversize comb. At 13 weeks, watermael comb on cockerels should be tight to the head, nice red color, and three little fingers swept together at the very back. Agate has a good comb. Let's compare.

That's a lot of boys but I guess that means you get to pick the best one. I had three boys and five girls. Agate gets to be the only man in the flock and has his selection of 9 very fine ladies. The baby girls are saccharine sweet, just snuggly little lovebugs. They adore me, and I adore them.
