Our hens have the same problem. They look Terrible !!!
I mean tERRIBLE ! hate for anyone to see them , seems to be about 6 or 7 of the 19 are the worst. bald beat red! and we have tried everything we have read almost except the blue balm. .. We have just noticed they smell different to .. stanky .. even the tail feathers are starting to go. it has to be pecking because of all the feathers missing there are NONE laying around. We keep it prety clean and change the bedding every week and a half. almost at wits end has anyone found a cure????

I read in one post somewhere to use "vicks vaporub", that it works better than any commercial stuff . I have been browsing around on hear for months and can't remenber just where I seen it . Now I can not find it again.

I've tried the vicks too.......Didn't notice any difference other than making the coop smell like a chicken hospital. How are your hens acting? Mine are acting just fine.

My sister said "It figures YOUR chickens would be mooning everyone".

It has been almost a month since we have culled the culprit. Everyone is laying regularly, eating and drinking fine and getting along. Maybe it is just a matter of time. It was a LONG and COLD winter. Heck, I could have pulled a few hairs of my housemates too. Now that it is warming up and they get out everyday maybe things will improve.

They act fine , I see nothing wrong . They been free ranging for a month or more now . My egg count has dropped the last couple of days thought . Don't see any egg around out doors thought . I did start to wounder if they might be starting to nest outside .
