Our one year old Bluebelle hen has lost most of the feathers from her crop. We thought it was impacted at first, but it certainly seems to be empty every morning. We've separated her from the other hens, but they can still see each other. She's normally top hen in the pecking order.
We separated her because we were worried about her crop getting pecked, but even after a few days by herself, it still looks red and a bit raw. I was wondering if we should put any cream on - maybe just some Vaseline? I'd be grateful for any advice.

Keep her seperated-good call.
Could you maybe upload a pic to give us more of an idea?

Yes maybe rub vaseline on it but first wash the area off in nice warm water.

Here are some pics, she seems quite happy, just doesn't look too good. As you can see, she's not just bare on her crop now. Our hens have been kept in a more confined space for the last few weeks, as they've been at a friend's in a shed while we were away. Now the hens are back home with us, and Bella's in a separate coop and run most of the time, but free ranging (while the others are shut in their coop) for a few hours every afternoon. We've been giving her apple cider vinegar - we started this when we thought her crop was impacted. Thanks for your replies.

It looks like feather loss due to picking/plucking. I do see some pin feathers coming in.

If they were moved to a new temporary home and confined to a smaller area, this can cause stress, boredom and feather picking. Check all of them over for lice/mites to make sure she is not losing some feathers from overpreening. Growing in new feathers takes extra protein, so provide her with some poultry vitamins a couple of days a week and a little chopped egg, tuna, mackerel or meat as a daily boost.

Hopefully being back home on familiar ground with more room and a little extra TLC she will grow her feathers back fairly quickly.

Thanks for your help. I've been feeding her boiled egg and she is looking better, the feathers are starting to grow back.
