I second Wes's advice. I am not real keen on dusting birds...the powder can easily be inhaled and can cause problems. If you see mites crawling around (so a real bad infestation) you can also get some spray especially for birds (I would recommend the non aerosol as , once again, this involves less risk of inhalation)... this can be purchased at your petstore (it is for cage birds). It is sooooo very important that you clean and treat agressively the housing and nests also for the mites and this is where the failure to rid the birds of the beasts usually occurs through reinfestation.
