Hello, We have a flock of 7 hens about 14 months old. They live in a nice coop with a 6x12 run that we keep very clean. we started seeing these bare spots on some of our hens about 6 months ago. We initially thought it was feather picking. Put peaky blinders on some of the more aggressive hens with mixed results. We have never seen any signs of mites or other bugs, though we treated the hens and sprayed the coop for them anyway. Does anyone have any other thoughts on what might be going on. Its not molting since it started 6 months ago. Thanks in advance

If your sure it's not parasites like lice or worms...What are you feeding them? It takes a lot of protein and energy to make feathers

We feed a 50/50 mix of organic premium layer and game bird feed, it works out to about 19% protein. Plus they get grubbies, meal worms a few times a week and typically free range about 2 hours a day.

That sounds about right, I don't see anything off with the feed....what about brooding? lining nests with their own feathers?
I know some molt for extended periods of time during a hard molt. :idunnoWell if they are otherwise healthy I'm not sure.
