barebacked chickens

I have several barebacked hens, have tried blue coat ,but it seems it doesn't do much for the problem, I have seen saddles mentioned here, but I cant get into the link, can anyone help?

Sounds like overmating by a rooster. How many chickens and how much space? (in feet by feet, coop and run separately) Space is a consideration too. So the hens have a way to get away from the rooster?

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Bluekote is only used for certain types of wounds. If your rooster is over mating yes, you need saddles. Make sure your rooster to hen ratio is correct at around 1 roo to 10 to 12 hens. A rooster can overmate a hen literally to death. So if you don't have enough hens, separate out your roo giving him only a couple hours a day max with a few hens. And watch for tired sick hens, the mating drains the life out of them.
