Nice, now they can ask us if we want green eggs and ham hahaOlive egger it most likely is.
I meant to ask, can Cuckoo Marans have yellow legs? They got yellow with a black wash.Crest + barring + straight comb implies Olive Egger of specific breeding: Cuckoo Marans x Crested Cream Legbar being most likely.
Cuckoo marans have white legs. Not sure what legbars have, but leg color from mixing breeds is not as well studied as feather color/pattern. What is known is that it's less predictable, I think.I meant to ask, can Cuckoo Marans have yellow legs? They got yellow with a black wash.
I have one that looks just the same but she has white legs with the black spots! Did yours end up being an olive Egger? Or is she not laying yet? I’ve been doing research and cuckoo marans x cream Legbar seems the most likely cross?I love her either way, just wondering! I keep going back and forth guessing which she is.

She’s getting super close to laying, but not quite yet! Yeah ever since I got some bared rock chicks, I’m thinking she’s a cuckoo marans mix. She’s either going to lay olive or brown eggs, both are fine by me! It all tastes the same haha. Here’s a more recent photo of her.I have one that looks just the same but she has white legs with the black spots! Did yours end up being an olive Egger? Or is she not laying yet? I had 2 and one got taken by a predator. Thinking bobcatShe’s getting super close to laying, but not quite yet! Yeah ever since I got some bared rock chicks, I’m thinking she’s a cuckoo marans mix. I’ll get a better pic of just her tomorrow. She has the body shape of a CCL!
Here’s a better, more current pic of mineAbsolutely!!! I’m so eggcited! It’s fun guessing what color they will lay. I’m leaning on olive but I’ll be happy either way!
Oh no I’m so sorry!!!! This can be such a brutal hobby. That’s why we have a rule where someone has to be out with them at all times when they free range. Just yesterday a hawk took a swoop at mine. Luckily no casualties. But I have absolutely lost a couple from predators before. I empathize completely, it’s such a horrible feelings.but we try to learn from these loses, because of them we have better coop security now. How do you think the bobcat got them?
I'm so sorry for your loss. Did you find out what did that? Here’s a better, more current pic of mineI think she’s about 3-3.5 months old.
I went out one morning and the other one was missing. I looked everywhere. I finally saw where the wire was pushed down on the roof, pulled away from the two boards it was secured between. There was 1 little stripped feather on the top of the run and a couple in the wire where she was pulled throughThey liked to sleep on the top of their house so they were easy to grab I guess
we have since made the whole roof solid and put a motion spot light out there too. They were in a sectioned off part of the run at the time, getting integrated to the flock, and now they’re in with the big girls and go in the big house every night so I worry a little less.
